Vallejo Choral Society is pleased to partner with esteemed music educator John Montanero as the director of its Campanelli Youth Chorus program. The Campanelli Youth Chorus after-school program is sponsored by Vallejo Choral Society (VCS) and administered by the Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD). Renowned for his dynamic teaching style and deep commitment to musical growth, Montanero provides young singers with a joyful, skill-building introduction to choral singing and ensemble performance.

A musician, choral director, and educator with more than two decades of experience, Montanero has worked with singers of all ages across a wide range of settings. He currently conducts the Schola at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, where he has served as an instructor in the Music Department for 20 years. He also teaches music and directs the student choir at St. Paul’s K–8 School in San Pablo and serves as Music Director at St. Anne Catholic Church in Walnut Creek. A Vallejo resident for 24 years, Montanero has previously served as Music Director at St. Vincent Ferrer Churchand St. Basil Parish, contributing significantly to the region’s choral and liturgical music life.

Montanero holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia and a Master of Music degree from the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music in Stockton, with advanced study in voice, choral conducting, and orchestral conducting.
